| Product Features | Rare Victorian J & JG Low blue portrait art tile with a silver repousse rim. The tile is in very good condition especially considering that it was probably made in the 1880s. J & JG Low was located in Chelsea, MA,and made fine art tile from 1877-1902. I purchased this tile for my collection about 25 years ago. This company produced beautiful work as you can see from the pictures, and with the addition of the silver repoussé rim, it is quite special. The tile has a wood backing with a felt cover that is showing its age. The silver is not hallmarked, but there are letters faintly etched into the rim that can be seen in the above picture. Note that the silver rim has surface scratches that are consistent with its age, and the tile has some minor crazing.The piece is approximate 6.25 inches in diameter and weighs approximately 1 pound and 6 ounces. This tile would have been a very special piece for the Victorian home.Please study the pictures carefully.If you have any questions or concerns please email me, because I want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase. | ||
